Security and Privacy: All in a Fence

When it becomes impossible to find privacy in your front or backyard, it’s time to consider your options: stay inside as much as possible or do something about it. If you’re neighbors are in close proximity to you, installing a privacy fence might be the best option. Not only will a fence provide some closure in your yard, but it can also deter burglars and peeping Toms. There are a couple different privacy fences that you should consider: full privacy and semi privacy.
The tall privacy fences that don’t have space between the pickets provide full privacy, and they cannot be easily jumped. In addition, some of the designs made from vinyl can withstand strong wind gusts and storms better than the wooden ones. Whether someone is trying to get into your home or a storm is picking up outside, the fence will provide safety and security. If you’re worried about the appearance of the fence, choose ones with lattice accents or other details that compliment your home.
Semi privacy fences have a small amount of space between the pickets, which allows for air circulation. Depending on which brand you choose, some come with visual screens so it’s difficult to see through the openings. Semi privacy fences are useful around pools, or you can put it around your children’s playset and include a gate. This can give you closure and a sense of peace knowing that your children have a safe area to play in. If you have pets too, this will ensure that they don’t wander into other people’s yards.
Fences have come a long way from the typical chain link design, so you can add security and privacy to your home without giving up your style. For example, you can have a vinyl fence with a stepped Victorian top or a semi privacy fence in a Chesapeake style. However, if you prefer chain link, there are enhanced ones with doubly ply tubular notch slats.
Installing a fence is ideal if you live off of a busy street or if you just moved to a neighborhood that is full of unfamiliar faces. You never know who lives up the street from you, but you can at least make your home less visible from the road. Plus, the tall fence will make your home less appealing to burglars. After the fence is installed, you and your family can comfortably enjoy the backyard.

Good article. I own a website for home security products and I want to put up a semi private fence at my home. Do you know what advantage wood has over vynal other than looks?
